The Bat call went out early to enlist the help of the best artists and performers in the industry.
The BIGGEST THING TO HIT TORQUAY since MACCA(S)!
When i think about it, so much went into the organisation of this exhibition. I am still, some years later so extremly grateful to everyone who made the effort to participate in the Dark Night Exhibition. There was even a Twitter quiz leading up to the event. If you guessed it right access to a sum of money I had placed on the bar at Nordenfine Icecream, Torquay was yours to enjoy. I found the printout of total purchase to be very amusing.
If you were wondering what the answer to the twitter mystery question was? “Its fun”, scored a very resourceful someone half a litre of icecream from Nordenfine!
Yabba dabba doo!
Generating THE HYPE!
I could create the artworks but to compose the words to explain them, that was a completely different story. To generated the hype and get interests peaked all written material for the exhibition was created by cousin and amazing writer Sharon Macaulay.
The Music was the call to action, the search light that alerts everyone to the present action. Its the introduction, the body and the conclusion to the Dark Night. Traditional Scottish bagpipes hauntungly directed the attention of the attendees to the location of Ride stylz cafe, JEELONG JUGGLER, Tim Smyth masterfully elevated the awe and excitement. The people from NARANA - Aboriginal Cultural Centre then tore open the barrier to the ansestors and the dreamtime and allowed access to another dimension. Welcome to Country ceremony in traditional tongue, Didj and Tiwi Island dancers. Enough hype? I didnt think so! So Mel and Andrew “HUMPS" Humphreys, saxs and synth duet along with, solo for the night mother/mother-in-law and Soul sister, Gail Lambert played a smooth, cool cat jazz in the background. A slow burn but a nuclear fission reactor. And to come full circle and complete the loop, later that night Ado and Bridge (past St Ignatius students of mine) spun their vinyl collection and generated art that the ansestors could only imagine.

Thank you Woodsy, your guidance and mc. Michael Boyuslav your wisdom. Ferne Millen photography gave the whole thing the style and look of sucess. And a special thank you to Jason B, Matt and Cherry Foster, Cheryl and Graeme Ebert. R.w.M for his ongoing support, Tyler and the RIDE STYLZ experience!!

Last but not least, The Murrays Deli for the platters and the organ donor awareness. The exhibition at Ride Stylz realised the sale of 3 works, 2 sculptures and a painting. Of the remaining shields, DYING PROMISE was donated to charity to raise funds for a good friends cancer treatment. HAU, returned to “Great Bear Log Cabins" the yards in Mansfield where the discarded saddle notches ignited the idea for what was to become “The DARK NIGHT Exhibition.
HELLRIDE, GETTING OF WISDOM and XIBALBA are still available and can be viewed upon request. Through the sale of my artwork and donations from you guys i was able to deliver to Blake, an 18 year old past student of mine, an envelope containing $600 to go towards a motorised wheelchair.
